Yes, they are engineered for strength! Our bags use a blend of compostable polymers (like PLA and PBAT) that offer high tensile strength and puncture resistance. They can carry heavy groceries just like a standard plastic bag.
They won’t rot just sitting there. However, because they are made from natural materials, they have a shelf life of about 10–12 months. Store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to keep them strong.
“Biodegradable” is a vague term—many such bags are plastic with additives that create microplastics. Shipra’s Green Products are Compostable, meaning they break down completely into non-toxic soil nutrients within 90–180 days in a composting environment.
While they are better than plastic in a landfill, they perform best in a compost bin. Composting completes the circular economy by returning nutrients back to the soil.
